Commercial EV charging in the UK: public payment and fleet depots
A public car park and a private depot can need very different charging systems. Start by identifying who can use each connector, how long vehicles stay and who operates the charging service. A larger charger alone does not resolve payment failures or missed fleet departures.

Separate public and private operation
For a shared retail or hotel site, describe which bays are available to the public and which are reserved for a fleet. Ask the operator to review the current government public-chargepoint guidance for the actual installation. A payment terminal is one part of the service: define displayed prices, payment acceptance, session authorisation, failed-start handling and customer support before selecting hardware.
Specify the morning departure test
List the energy each depot vehicle needs and its return and departure time. Compare an overnight AC plan with a mixed AC/DC plan. Require a schedule-level simulation if vehicles arrive late or share power. Four connectors do not mean four vehicles each receive the cabinet’s full nameplate output; request the allocation table and a simultaneous-session test.
Build a compact site without blocking users
Review a scaled parking drawing with cable reach, accessible routes, door opening, impact protection and service access. An ultra-slim cabinet may reduce the equipment footprint, but its published width is not the full installation envelope. Ask for the exact model drawing rather than using a product photograph to decide clearances.

Buyer questions
Can a single kiosk serve the site?
A shared payment and charging-start flow can be reviewed. Confirm controller support, station IDs, concurrent sessions, payment provider, receipts and recovery from network loss. The kiosk by itself is not evidence of regulatory compliance.
Will load balancing avoid a connection upgrade?
Only if the usable site capacity and charging windows meet demand. Load balancing allocates available capacity; it cannot create additional grid power.
What makes quotations comparable?
Use the same model, output allocation, cable length, backend, payment scope, commissioning tests and exclusions for every supplier. Separate equipment price from civil works, network fees and maintenance.
